One Hundred Interaction Logos
Our first task was to create a symbol we felt in some way represented Interaction. I created a simplified version of some Morse Code I had found. We were then asked to pass this onto the person sitting to the left of us. We then redrew the logo in front of us in a different style depending on what someone in the class said. e.g. “draw it in 3D”. This meant that after a few hours, we all ended up with a page featuring dozens of different symbols all stemming from the original design. It really showed me how much you can get out of a single idea, and how far you can push something.
Next we were handed a brief, and given a few days to create 100 different logos, each showing interaction. I had to work through the weekend, leaving myself little over a day to produce the 100 ready for Wednesdays presentation. I drew the majority of my designs in a small sketchbook so I could scan them in after. Other logos I worked straight into Photoshop or Illustrator as some logos wouldn’t have had the impact if hand drawn.

I created a document in InDesign and imported all the designs, ready to lay them out so each design could be easily compared.
After a short group crit, my hundred logos were cut down to the three strongest. I was then set the task of working on the logos, developing and perfecting them for another crit with the tutors, two days later.
In the end the final design picked was the set of straight lines which at a certain point become waves. Although not my favorite of the designs, it fitted the brief, and was what the client (my tutors) wanted. So it was all in all a very successful project. I also achieved a grade of 85% for the logo which I was very pleased with.
